Last month, I partnered with Instax once again to spend an hour or so crafting with fellow instax lovers at the SM Stationery Art Fest event at SM The Block. My notebook addiction was at peak, so making instax pocket notebooks was top of mind. To learn how to make your own, read on!

To start, download Instax frame template (from our friends at Instax Philippines). Use it as a guide to cut out your frame. The small inner guides are small slits to house the instax prints, and to close your notebook shut.

Make sure to use a sturdy cardstock! The higher the GSM, the better. For this particular tutorial, I used a 300GSM cardstock with a chalkboard finish on one side. (You can buy this or this, or DIY with chalkboard paint!)

Here’s where you can let loose! Decorate what will be the outer cover. I love using adhesive washi sheets, because it’s quick and easy! (Try using this or this adhesive washi pads.)

I just cut the washi into triangles, and just pieced them together like a puzzle.

Once you’ve finished putting it all together, go back and make sure the inner slits are still cut through and through.

Next, prepare the leaves of paper for your notebook. You can download these free grid, dotted and lined printable templates HERE. For this tutorial, I just went with plain US Letter sized paper. I used about 4 sheets, and cut them into quarters.

Then, I folded it in half. It fits nearly perfect in the instax notebook frame!

Check to see if you need to trim off the edges.

Cut as needed.

Next, align the spines of both the folded pages and one edge of the notebook.

Staple along the fold.

Check to see if the staples went all the way through. Flatten and fix as needed.

Check to make sure the pocket notebook closes securely.

Flip the notebook over, and add your favorite instax print into the frame.

Make one, two or more easily!
