I’ve been burned so many times by stolen content, and recently, repeated unpaid commercial use of my fonts. I’ve been itching for a platform to talk about the risk and rewards of putting your work out there. When Alessa asked if I’d be willing to participate at this year’s Design Week Philippines, I was both eager and anxious to talk about my experiences.
It was pretty daunting talking alongside these longtime creative professionals! If you weren’t able to attend these masterclasses, I’m here to tell you that you missed out. I’m so glad to have been able to sit through all the talks (except Fozzy’s because our talks were simultaneous–boohoo!). PJ, Francis and Alessa truly revived the creative in me!

I gave my basic pointers and tips for monetizing your design work. Pointers on how to put yourself out there, channels that might not be top of mind, and some things to remember. Atty. BJ Palattao followed up each tip with legal reminders to protect creative professionals and their work. Here’s to hoping the attendees had great takeaways.
