I was trying to take videos of lettering work for Mix Fonts‘ instagram account, and holding my phone while working just wasn’t cutting it anymore. So, as the crafter that I am, I combined a few different origami tutorials and came up with this origami phone stand that could easily double as a beautiful wall installation. Read on to learn how to make these twin pyramid origami stands!
This is a fun origami trick when you need to organize in a pinch. Just a couple of folds here and there, and you get a cute paper origami box basket, ready to hold your daintiest of craft supplies. Read on to learn how.
I’ve seen candles with pressed flowers, and have always wondered how I could cheat making them. By that, I mean, not having to dip candles and make them from scratch myself. Yes, I know I could (and I should actually try to DIY right?), but I wanted an easy way out. Here’s the quick “cheat” method!
It’s been a couple weeks since my Mom left. She spent nearly a month here to help me out with a few workshops, events and bazaars. Philippines is on a Holiday High, so we were quite busy managing all the craft sales at the different craft fairs and bazaars, as well as from the I Try DIY Shop. Tutorials took a backseat, but I’m definitely back with a vengeance. Mom left behind this cute wall hanging. It’s such a simple project, I don’t even know why I never thought of it!
There’s more to Halloween decorating than spooky sights and sounds. Amp up the fear factor this year with these full sensory spook bowls perfect for your little sweet-toothed trick-or-treaters. Give them something to scream about!
Earlier this year, I helped with some styling elements for a wedding. One of the things I made were these cool 3D wooden table numbers on a glass-less frame. It was pretty cool having the number pop instead of having the usual flat number. I was asked how I managed to keep the cost down, thinking that I purchased some of those 3D numbers people use for their homes. I’ll let you in on a secret.
I was digging through some old photos I had. I found several photos I took with my lomo cameras, and thought they would look really nice as a canvas for my pressed flowers. This was a shot I took of my brother, @sleepymilo, outside the Brooklyn Museum back in 2008.
Sometime last month, I tried this simple geometric watercolor project just to flex a creative muscle. It was one of those just because projects that turned out so so so well. This was a small piece no bigger than my iPhone. I wanted to make something big enough to frame. This is how it went!
