Do you remember those coloring books where color would magically appear when you brushed water along the lines of the drawing? Those used to be my favorite things in the world! Jem and the Holograms would magically turn pink with just water. I haven’t seen those types of coloring books, so I thought I’d try them myself.

Anyone who knows me knows that coffee time is the most precious moment of my day. Nothing gets done until a cup of joe has been downed. I had a full weekend, so I slept in a little bit this morning. I knew I had work to catch up on, but coffee had to be had before anything.
Sometime last month, I tried this simple geometric watercolor project just to flex a creative muscle. It was one of those just because projects that turned out so so so well. This was a small piece no bigger than my iPhone. I wanted to make something big enough to frame. This is how it went!
Why buy when you can DIY? Try this this easy watercolor project, and make some beautiful pieces to hang on your walls. For this project, I used these super useful water resistant pens. There are many brands to choose from, but for this particular project I used the Zig Millennium Markers.
It’s been a while since I made the Honeycomb Pattern Notebooks tutorial, and I’m still on this geometric craze. I’ve been wanting to translate this onto my walls, so here’s my first crack at it. I haven’t used my watercolor set in a while, so I thought I’d take to the brush as well.
Like I’ve said many times before, I can’t draw to save my life. So, at the last Craft Pop-Up, I tried to flex a new craft muscle.
When this little one asked if she could come over to my condo, I couldn’t say no. She’s quite the crafty one, so I knew we were in for an afternoon of activities. So after an hour of Dance Central, I thought it would be best to attack some paint.
I wanted to teach her something new, so I was hoping to try out some blow painting. Instead of bringing out just the brushes, I took out some paper straws, too.
I started dipping the straws in various colors.
Then blew some streaks in whichever direction.
I made a few sheets using different methods I had accidentally discovered: dripping, bubble bursting, splattering and streaking.
So quick. So fun. So easy!
Realizing that maybe abstract art wasn’t her thing, this is what she ended up making!
Hey, Tita Mikko isn’t complaining!
