So I’ve managed to accumulate an unforgivable amount of thread. I refuse to be called a hoarder, so I’ve been trying to think of ways to use the many skeins that I have. Since I love necklaces so much, I decided to make another bib pendant!
I took out my bin of felt. Much like my threads, I have yards and yards of felt cloth. I chose a neutral color to make the bright colored threads pop.
I sketched some random shapes. I’m married to symmetry, so that’s how I usually design things. You don’t have to keep things so simple.
Here’s a work-in-progress close-up of a different bib I had embroidered. DMC Embroidery Floss is made of six strands. For this project, I split the floss and used only three strands at a time.
When I was done, I cut another piece of felt in the same shape. This is t cover the wrong side of the needlework.
I did blanket stitches all around to hold the two pieces of felt together. I made sure to sew in some jump rings to connect the necklace chain to.
It does take some time to make. It was quite a challenge for this crafter with a short attention span. It was well worth the wait though! What do you think?
