After I made these DIY Notebooks, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to keep the covers plain. Because I love patterns so much, I thought a colorful honeycomb pattern would be really cute.
For this project, I decided to use We R Memory Keepers’ Washi Adhesive Stickers. Local residents can also buy these stickers from Hey Kessy. You can always use paper+glue for this project, too!
I chose these colors and patterns from my 6×6-inch stack of washi sticker sheets. Don’t they all just look so cute together?
I could have manually cut the hexagon shapes, but chose to go the digital automatic route. I quickly designed a sheet of hexagons in photoshop.
Then I uploaded it for use on my Cricut Explore.
I wanted the cuts to be perfect, and well, I was being a little lazy.
They were just too delicious to use. Too cute!
Starting from a corner of the front page, I began sticking the hexagon pieces. I wanted the colors to be random. At first, I didn’t want same-colored pieces to be adjacent to each other. It didn’t turn out to be so random.
Once you’re done, you can cover the notebook with an Adhesive Bookcover or apply a coat or two of Mod Podge. This will help keep the washi from peeling off.
Much better than plain notebooks, yes?
All done! It surely brightened up my notebooks. I just might do something similar for my walls!
Happy Crafting!
