What did we do last weekend? We spent Sunday at Livi’s 2nd Birthday Picnic Party! We worked on filling up Sitio Elena with everything picnic-themed. Seeing how happy Livi and her parents were when they walked through the doors was worth everything!
We stuck to a gingham and navy blue theme for our setup. We strung hand cut and hand sewn buntings all around the venue.
Guests were welcomed with blooms and pinwheels, and were asked to wear gingham labels.
I took a stab at “chalkboard art” for the signage. Note the quotes, as I don’t know if what I made counts as chalkboard art at all. My blooming succulents and cacti made appearances, too!
We were given a tall order of filling up a 6-meter dessert table, only to find ourselves needing an extra table or two for our stuff. We had a mini-garden setup on the middle of the table.
With delicious rainbow cake care of Cake Avenue Bakeshop. They’re definitely a go-to for all my cake needs. Their rainbow cake is a personal favorite as well!
We had a Radio Flyer Tricycle, carrying a sampler of our trio of drinks. The jello was a definite hit among the guests. The jello was all gone before we knew it!
We had the usual favorite, red velvet cake pops dipped in white chocolate.
Individually packed wooden utensils. The most delicious chewy chocolate chip cookies.
A new item on our menu–vanilla red velvet marble whoopie pies with cream cheese filling.
Livi’s Mom also asked for a drink station. We prepared a trio of delicious drinks: Lemonade, Orange Juice and Fruit Punch.
The party didn’t have any formal program. Instead, we prepared three craft stations for the kids to enjoy throughout the afternoon. Supplies were unlimited, so they kept going until they were all tired.
To keep with the local craze, we had a Rainbow Loom station.
A paper pinwheel station, so the kids can make pinwheels to match everything else in the room. They could even use it as props for the photo booth we had set up for them as well. (Read the tutorial for this HERE.)
Lastly, the kids were also able to work on their own chalkboard art! Here’s Livi attacking the chalk stash even before the guests started to arrive!
Apart from all this, there were family favorites (cakes upon cakes upon cakes) brought in by the family. We were also able to bring in a dirty ice cream cart. And the family also supplied a squid ball cart.
All in all, it was a great day. Happy Birthday, Livi! I hope you enjoyed your 2nd birthday party, because we sure did!
