Knots About Cords

Summer 2013 was all about paracord bracelets. It was my new arm candy of choice. I was starting to hear a lot about it, so when I spent 2 months in Alaska, I made sure to get my stash of cord. Soon enough, I was selling bracelets and holding workshops for it.

If you’d like to learn how to make these bracelets, here’s your chance. Knots About Cords will soon be available at bookstores and newsstands near you! Along with my favorite people at Summit, we worked real hard to make this available for you. Learn how to make an assortment of bracelets, rings, necklaces and other projects.

The book comes with a starter kit of paracord and locks. Should you run out, don’t be dismayed, projects can also be done with other types of cord!

Look out for my favorite design, the Three-Color Cobra. This style was seen on the runway last year. I think it was Tommy Hilfiger‘s collection.

The Friendship Bracelet Book

Today is my day, and I think life has given me one of the best gifts I could have ever gotten. It’s been a lifetime dream to get published. When I set out to reach that dream, I thought I’d be authoring a novel. Who knew my book–first book–would be a crafts book for kids and teens.

Yes, I’m still here!

Of course, after I post about gift wrapping entries weekly, I find that I abandon my blog completely for a few weeks. I have no excuse other than life getting in the way of blogging. I don’t necessarily have a DIY to post here today, but I wanted to share what’s been going on outside of this blog.

By the end of the month, something Macy, Alessa and I have been working on the past few months will become available at bookstores near you! I’ll give you more details on that once it comes out. All I can promise is that there will be a very cute accessory giveaway in tandem with the release! (Note: I just realized that Alessa just blogged about this too!)

I’ve gotten several orders since I started accepting bracelet orders. I’ll be making bracelets for a children’s party, for a wedding entourage, and fulfill requests from friends and family. Since my first international order made it across the waters safely, I’ll also be putting up an etsy store. I should buy more watch faces so I can sell those babies on etsy, too. Want to order? Send an e-mail to mynameismikko[at]me[dot]com.

My very good friend Macy works for Candy Magazine. For the month of March, she let me contribute to candymag.com‘s diy section. This is where I share a few projects the readers might want to take a stab at. And if you haven’t done so already, go grab a copy of their March issue! I helped out with the Entertainment section of the magazine. It’s my first time being published here in Manila! Seeing my name in print never fails to give me the giggles.

Lastly, I’ve recently accepted a job offer. After ten months of (partially) bumming out here in Manila, I’ve finally bitten the bullet and will be working full-time for a really fun company. I promise to keep posting here. Not even a full-time job can take me away from my crafting!
