Last month, I prepared 50 friendship bracelet craft kits for an activity in Japan. I wanted to keep things easy, so I decided to doodle a little how-to zine on how to make the Chinese Staircase friendship bracelet pattern. It’s definitely one of the easiest to make!
When I make my custom bracelets and watches, I tend to use DMC’s embroidery floss. I love all the colors, and how clean the knots look when I’m done. Nowadays, I reach for their Coton Retors Mat line. It’s made of 100% cotton, and comes in comparatively muted colors. It’s a little thicker than the usual floss, so it’s perfect for beginners!
The craft kits I prepared included four skeins and this doodled zine below.
For you readers out there, here’s an added tip! I usually braid the strands of thread first before knotting (Step 2).
That way the loop is neater, making bracelet wear much easier!
Will you be wearing these friendship bracelets this summer?
