I Try DIY

My coffee addiction partnered with this need to take advantage of all promos brought me to this. I now have two (extra) Starbucks planners to raffle off to my beloved readers–yes, all three of you.

I Try DIY | Raffle for 2012 Starbucks Planners

So, here are the mechanics. By Friday, December 30th, leave a comment in this post with the following information:

  • Your name, of course
  • A DIY idea you would like for me to try out
  • Your planner preference: Bamboo or Oak

How do I select the winners?

  • The one whose DIY idea I find the most interesting (but doable, of course), will get first dibs.
  • The second planner will be selected using a random number generator.

When will I announce the winners?

  • Saturday, December 31st.

If you have any questions, just let me know by e-mail or via twitter. Please spread the news about my new blog itrydiy.me, and comment away!

I saw the locals in Boracay making cute and eco-freindly bracelets out of old magazines.
Cut 1/2" strips from a glossy magazines. Roll the strip completely around a toothpickn. Next, take a glue stick and quickly cover the remaining paper surface with glue. Slip the paper "BEAD" off the toothpick. Do this to the rest of the strips. Bead them using a nice string. These bracelets when stacked together look chic πŸ™‚

DIY IDEA: DIY floral headbands and hairpiece!

I've been thinking that what you mostly prefer DIY projects at the moment are regarding embroidery floss. Although you are just starting new, I believe that you can do these floral headbands and hairpiece while spending less and although without a sewing machine! πŸ˜€

I think the materials that you can use here are artificial flowers, fabric cloth(old pieces of clothing like printed long skirts), colored felt papers, plain headbands, colored beads or buttons, hairpins or hair clips, scissors, needle and thread, and a glue or a glue gun.

Here are some of the photos I have searched from the internet related to my idea:

Hoping and will definitely wait for your DIY online store soon πŸ˜€ Good luck and God bless the works of your hands.

I would suggest something minimalistic. Use your old shoes and stuff toys and create a community-like park or display inside your house. Paint the shoes with building colors of typical house colors and put the stuff toys as the citizens of that place.

    DIY: Beaded Origami Earrings
    >> Basically make an origami — you can either use authentic origami paper (which would be good since these papers are equal in size in terms of its width and length), but usual paper would still do. There are lots of origami ideas online πŸ™‚
    >> Since it's paper and can easily get 'destroyed', that's when you glue gun the beads on it to help strengthen it, and that would add color to it, too.

PLANNER PREF: Any of the two will do

All the same, God bless in your everything DIY! πŸ˜€

The title of your blog crocheted into a blanket. Take photos of it once you are done with the project and choose the best one as your blog header. I think it would be wonderful, and gives your readers the DIY-feel once they open your blog.

DIY idea: Make a knapsack of hope!
You can put simple things like a coin, an eraser, a rubber band, etc.
I know it sounds weird at first but you should put a piece of paper inside the knapsack where it all makes sense. Written in the paper should be the meaning of the things inside. For example,a coin/penny so you'll never be completely broke,an eraser to make all those little mistakes disappear, and a rubber band to help you stretch beyond your limits. By the way, the knapsack looks like what hobos carry at their back.

What about those 9-in-1 (or was it 8? Or 7? Haha!) dresses? I think it's just a long piece of cloth modified by some sewings or so.. I (and any other girl, I think) would LOVE to have that in my closet! A 9-in-1.. Wow. Haha! Or if not, what about a DIY denim bag? I once saw my friend whose mom made a bag out of worn pants :O

DIY Idea: Pool together old or "so yesterday" jewelry and accessories, where strings have lost their elasticity and the only place they're going is the trash bin, and create one long vintage necklace or colorful layered bracelets out of these retro finds. Put together the pearly stones or matte beads, not to mention ribbons and grungy charms to create an all-occasion yet unique look. Of course make sure the string or wire is new and you're all set for another decade.

    A DIY idea:

I'd like to see a DIY USB Flash Drive. Something catchy and unexpected. Like covering it up with other electronic devices, for example, a USB keyboard cord, cut at the keyboard end, to make it look like well, a cut cord, but then it's actually a USB. Eye catching!

DIY Idea: Make a braided cloth headband from old shirts! πŸ™‚ I love them, they are cute, useful, plus you get to save the environment by using those shirts that are too damaged to be even donated. And they are fairly easy to make! πŸ˜€
